YOU as the teacher are an author. And some of us are especially talented authors at that! Don't get too hung up on having EVERY lesson use a mentor text. If you can't find a GREAT example of something you want to teach your littles to do in writing, don't use a so-so text to make your point, make it up yourself! YOU be the great model of that craft or type of writing. I have done that a lot this year and my kids are writing leaps and bounds above where they ever have before. The most important thing to remember is not to let teaching writing stress you out. When you learn to let the stress go and just teach them how great writers write, the proof comes out each and every time they put written words on a page! Enjoy!sspellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14446924013006169828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4552904866848236784.post-23613938896768709872012-05-03T20:56:58.821-04:002012-05-03T20:56:58.821-04:00Thank you thank you! I am glad you posted this, because I probably would do the same thing as you did your first year, just make sure to add a lot of writing assignments but not really study it. You have a lot of great ideas for helping students learn, set goals, and be proud of their writing!Miss Angelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04409220869471005923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4552904866848236784.post-8788825752203757382012-05-02T19:51:15.368-04:002012-05-02T19:51:15.368-04:00Great post on writing!
