Main Idea and Details *FREEBIE*!

I'm super close to 5,000 followers on TpT so I thought I'd celebrate with a little freebie!

Click the pic to check it out!

We did this in my after-school program last week as a "race" and it was a big hit!  I printed each page on one color paper, cut into strips, divided the kiddos into teams, and gave each team one set of the strips.  On my say so, they started reading and arranging the strips to show the main idea and supporting details while I walked around and checked their understanding.  When each group was correct, each group moved to another set of strips and we repeated the process until every group had arranged each set of strips.  We talked about main idea and details after!

The winning team each round each got one Nerd... and they were delighted!

I hope you like it... don't forget to leave feedback!  :)

There's still one more day to catch 15% off on everything in my TpT store too!  The sale ends tomorrow!

POP Over for Savings!

Oh little blog.  I am so sorry that I have abandoned you in 2014.  I hereby vow to get back to posting, take more photos in class, and interact more in the bloggy world.  I don't often share personal information on this little blog of mine, but I am now a Ms. instead of a Mrs. and so that's why I haven't been here.  BUT, I am ready/really needing to start doing things again... including this blog!

So...
To kick-start the "getting back in the swing of things", I'm having a SALE-a-bration!  You can pop over to my TpT shop from today until Tuesday, April 29, to get 15% off!!!!  Click any pic below to learn more about some of my favorite items!

It's almost the end of the year (I'm going until June 5 now because of all the snow days... BOO!) and so you might want to take a peek at some CCSS assessment helpers to help target teaching and learning for the last few weeks...

"Snapshots!" are super quick assessments, only a half page each, and can give you an instant read on how your kiddos are doing on individual standards.  Perfect for finishing up report cards, last minute interventions, or even to put together for summer practice!  They are available for 1st grade reading, math, and grammar.  And 2nd/3rd grade reading and grammar, 2nd grade math, and 3rd grade math!

You can even find a sample pack for each grade level so you can test out a few!

Send home some "Thought"marks for summer reading... these are bookmarks with comprehension activities for the back of each one!  Each bookmark explains the strategy on the front and comes with two different comprehension activities you can print on the back!  This is one of my FAVORITE things I implemented in my room this year!

Maybe you want some quick, quick, quick and fun, fun, fun awards for the end of the year.  These are easy to fill out and allow you to simply type in students' names, print, and watch the smiles flow!

Want to get a jump-start on new classroom things for next school year?

How about quick and easy holiday/theme decor with printable bunting banners?  I love quickly hanging these for each holiday!  They're available in loads of themes too... the theme banners all include a customizable PPT file too!

Or... implement clubs in your room next year!  We have a "100 Club" for reading and a "Homework Club" too!  My kiddos love being in the clubs!

Make yourself a daily CCSS ELA review (available for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades!) for next year with "100 Days to CCSS Success"!

Increase school-to-home communication with these easy to use monthly newsletters!  20 to choose from with two styles for each month!

Or review standards in an interactive way with classroom/hallway hunts.  These are perfect for getting practice on a skill while up and moving!

Those are just a few of my favorites... happy SALE-a-brating!

Giving Students Personal Space- A BRIGHT Idea!

I'm so excited to be part of the Bloggy Bright Ideas Link Up again this month!

I am sharing a cheap and easy way to give your students personal space... mine LOVE this and use it all the time, especially during Read to Self during Daily Five time.

I headed to the Dollar Tree, spent a total of $5 and bought some...

HULA HOOPS!

When a student wants their own space, they plop down in a hula hoop and are instantly inside their own little bubble.  They love it!

Check out the other blogs in the linky for more great Bright Ideas and, if you liked this BRIGHT Idea, consider clicking the links at the top of my page to follow me on FB, Pinterest, and Instagram!
