Please tell me I'm not the only one who waited until the weekend before Valentine's Day to think about what to give my kiddos?
I decided to make my own candy bar wrappers for my students! I have done something like this in the past, but my wrappers needed a face lift. So, last night I bought regular sized Hershey bars and today I made the wrappers... it was fast, easy, and much less expensive than goodie bags full of stuff... which is what I usually do for Valentine's Day. I got the candy bars at Target and it was something like $2.62 for 6... which I thought was super cheap. Of course, I needed 25, but it still ended up being about $15.00 for all of them.
Here's how they turned out... I LOVE THEM!
I just put the finishing touches on a pack of wrapper for each holiday and you can win the set! Just comment with your favorite easy student gifts for any holiday and I'll pick a winner on Monday... so that the winner has time to use the V-day wrappers if they want!

When I taught 5th... Kids loved Mo Homework passes. This is my first year in 1st and I love this idea!!!
ReplyDeleteWe use candy canes to make hearts and melt chocolate and pour it in the middle if the candy canes with lollipop sticks. I let them add sprinkles. After the chocolate has set they have a candy heart lollipop. They love making them and think it is the coolest thing that 2 candy canes make the shape of a heart. Idea found on pinterest of course. Love your candy bar wrappers. amandalawson4@gmail.com
ReplyDeletePop rocks with a label that says "You keep it Poppin'!" Or something else cute like that. I love to give those out and I love to watch the students faces as the rocks are popping inside their little mouths. Haha!
ReplyDeleteMy go-to present is pencils - either holiday or mechanical. That way I KNOW they have one for at least a day ;)

I love to give students coupons for a scholastic book and then I use my scholastic points to purchase the books. Its quick, easy, and the students get a great book in the process! :)

I love when I get class book sets from Scholastic for spending so much money. I save them up until shortly before Christmas then wrap them together with ribbon and viola!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! My easiest gifts are pencils for the occasion!

Very cute. I also give free NO HOMEWORK passes for gifts. These would be nice to include with the homework pass. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI get so envious that you get to do stuff like this. We are not allowed to do any holiday things at all =(. I planned my Wax museum presentation to be on Thursday so that we could still have a party... to celebrate the completion of this amazing project!
ReplyDeleteI usually give my kids the candy conversation hearts then we do a math activity with them, followed by using the boxes to make a valentine photo gift for them to give to their parents. This year valentines day is short day and our principal has said we can only have 30 minute parties. Not sure what to do!!
ReplyDeleteI guess I have to go with holiday themed pencils. Boring, but true.
ReplyDeleteI always give my kiddos a free homework pass! They love it!

ReplyDeleteI have been loving the birthday balloons on crazy straws (that I got ready this summer). I need an idea like that for every holiday because I am doing the last minute thing, too!
ReplyDeleteI don't give them all gifts, but I try to arrange it so that each group I see gets to pick from the "prize box" around a holiday. That depends on if they earn enough marbles, but they did for Christmas. They didn't make it for V-day! Maybe I'll start next year.

For every holiday, I love to give my kiddos fun pencils! Even for small things that we don't really hit, like Easter. At Christmas, I also give them each a book.
ReplyDeleteYour candy wrappers are adorable! I bought my students Valentine stamps and erasers.

For Christmas I give my kids a clip board covered with scrapbook paper and things that they love (scooby do, Dora, disney princesses, etc.) I pring the pictures from the internet, glue them to the scrapbook covered clip board and then pring their name out and add that to the bottom of the clip board. I then modge podge the whole thing. Not quick and easy, but my kids love them for my write the room center!
ReplyDeleteFor holidays, I try to find picks in the dollar store. I just got a package of 6 heart picks for $1.00 I use floral tape, and attach them to a pencil. VOILA! KEWL pencils!! I put them in my writing center as well!! You can also do pencils with flowers, or feathers (their favorite!) I just made the heart ones, and I found green shamrocks for next month's writing center and a little Lucky pencil gift! I used to attach cute things to pens when I taught the older grades!
So cute! I used to do Hershey bars for Valentine's, but the wrapper I had isn't nearly as cute as yours! At Christmas part of the gift I give my students is a new box of Crayolas that I buy for $.25/each over the summer. They are in dire in need of new crayons by this point in the year!

My go-to gifts are freebie Scholastic books or themed pencils/notepads. We have a no food policy for our whole school! (boo!)

Those are adorable! We had our party this past Thursday as we are off next week! I made pink chocolate and sprinkle dipped marshmallows. They were a hit with the kids and incredibly easy to make!

I always make bookmarks for my kiddos but Valentines Day has snuck up on me this year. I need these candy wrappers! =)

These are so adorable! We are a "no-gift" school for holidays, so we do little classroom superlatives for Valentines (like Mr. Manners or Ms. Inquirer). It's fun, and it gives me a great reason to still give them a little card/certificate!
ReplyDeleteI gave out crazy straws and a package of Kool-Aid on the last day of school with a tag that said, "Have a Kool (Aid) and Krazy (straw) summer!" I put the part in parentheses in tiny font just so everyone would 'get it'.

Such cute wrappers! I like to look for the $1 books in the Scholastic book orders, and order them throughout the year to give to my students at Christmas and the end of the year.

I'm hooked on making holiday crayons for my firsts. I have a silicon mold for pretty much every major holiday, and my kids LOVE using them!

Last year I gave my kids glow stick bracelets in pink or red. They loved them. I still haven't figured out what I'm doing this year...I'd better get that figured out soon!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this! I am a first teacher and I haven't really had the chance to think of anything creative! My email is ke.gordon@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI would truly love to win these. My grade partner and I usually give our firsties a small bag of treats. We use what items are the most reasonably priced. I would just love to win these. lwilsbach@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThese are SO stinkin' cute! On my newest blog post, I talked about how my aunt is making my class a treat. She used champagne flutes and filled it with conversation hearts and a cupcake fits perfectly in the top!!
ReplyDeleteI also ordered my class bracelets in our school colors from http://www.etsy.com/listing/120766255/student-valentine-cards?ref=pr_shop
She customized the cards for me to match what I needed... AND it came with 24! All for $12. I thought it would be a great personal touch so that we would all have a "class bracelet." :)

So cute! I usually make my kids heart crayons and have NOT gotten around to it yet!
ReplyDeletePop rocks and glow sticks!! You can make a saying for almost any holiday or occasion. They're cheap and loved!

I work at a school where they have to wear uniforms. A NUT (non uniform today) card is most treasured so I usually give those. Although, these are way cuter!!

Favorite easy gifts - I give each child a beanie baby (plus other things) for their birthday. I try to match up the child with their favorite animal. They love it! At the end of the year, we have beanie baby day where each child brings their beanie baby back to meet all the other beanie babies. I've been doing this for years! (in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade)

Holiday themed pencils & erasers are always loved by my firsties!
ReplyDeleteI love using little bags of candy with cute sayings attached to them!! Cute and convenient!

I love to buy the giant colored paper clips and tie theme type ribbons to make bookmarks for the kids. I usually give these at Christmas with a new book. I would love these wrappers. We can't have any junk food in school now but I could wrap granola bars. Here's hoping......
ReplyDeletebozekn@nashua.edu
Your candy bar wrappers are so cute and colorful. The sayings are perfect for my second graders. My easy go to gift for December is Scholastic books. I save some points to get them for 'free'. I usually add in a homework coupon. The kids love them. :)
ReplyDeleteSince I just gave them 100 grand bars for our 100th day of school, and the admin frowns upon candy, I am giving them a pencil. I removed the eraser and hot glued a white pompom on each, but they get to glue the tags and the googly eyes on them! Craft and gift in one!
ReplyDeletePencils!
ReplyDeleteThose are super cute! I only have 7 students so I bought frames for $1 at IKEA and framed a piece of their amazing artwork. They told me that their artwork usually goes into the trash can when they get home so I think this will be a great way for them to keep at least one piece of it.
ReplyDeleteI love glow sticks. They come in packs of 10 at Target in the dollar section...and they cannot be beat!

I am a first year teacher teaching a multilevel class in a rural area. My kids will get a cello gift bag with a packet of kool aid. I hand made cards that say, "you are super cool, Valentine" and added a pencil from the Target dollar shop! I am so excited!
ReplyDeleteI give my students a "holiday" pass to eat lunch with me. I try to provide a little something "extra" to share while we are eating to make this time even more special! No complaints so far and they look forward to the day we can enjoy our lunch.

Oops...forgot to include my e-mail just in case I happen to be the lucky one to win the wrappers!

Ummm I have nothing planned for this year. I'm still trying to figure out what to send with my preschooler to give to her classmates! Yikes, I'm in trouble. I neeed these wrappers!
ReplyDeletePlay-doh wrapped up with a candy cane tied in the bow is a great Christmas present. It is super easy, and the Play-doh keeps the kids busy for at least half an hour when they are "holiday overload!"

Oh my...I was reading your post and saw my name as the winner. Thank you so much...and thank your hubby as well! I am so anxious to use these for my 3rd grade kiddos! Thanks again...and Happy Valentine's Day!

My absolute favorite is to make lovebugs(when I have the supplies) out of foam, glitter pompoms, wiggle eyes, and chenille stems for the antennae. I always give pencils and agree with the teacher above who said at least I know they have one good pencil that day. :-)
