It just occurred to me today that I should share my students' favorite word work activity. It's virtually free... you just need space and dry erase markers... and they L-O-V-E it!
My kiddos scramble to be the first to the window during Daily Five so they can write their spelling words! It just takes a dry erase marker, which I keep hung next to the window in a magnetic basket.
Fun, free, and different... we're on our 26th spelling list of the year and they are STILL excited about writing their words on the window!
What are your kids' favorite ways to practice their spelling words? I'd love to hear from you!

Fun!! As 3rd graders, my kids still love to do rainbow words. Very simple and yet they love writing their words in rainbow colors.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! I LOVE this idea!! It's so easy. Thanks for sharing!

Such a fun idea!! My kids love spelling out their words in sign language!! At this time of year they still beg to do it, and are "pros" at the letters! :)

Ooh, how fun! I have a lot of windows!
ReplyDeleteThat is a new one I can add to my Daily 5, thanks so much! My kiddos love using the magic slates or stickers to make their words.

That looks like a lot of fun! It makes me wish I had windows to write on. . . but the only one that is possible is on the door and that's too high and has a curtain in front of it! I'll pass it along to anyone that I know who has windows in their rooms.

How fun! I wish I had windows that the kids can reach! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazingly simple idea! One of those "obvious" ones, once you hear it! Thank you
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea, Christina! I'd never had thought it up.

What a great idea! I'm going to do this one with my kiddos this week. My kids love to do "roll and spell." They choose a word from the word wall or list, and if they spell it correctly they roll the dice to see how many points they get. First one to 25 (or whatever number you choose) is the winner. It's the simple things they love the best! ~ Lisa
ReplyDeleteLove it! Great idea! :)
