Survived!

Valentine's Day is officially the last party of the school year... is it wrong that I was pumped about that when the last conversation heart had been eaten and the last card had been giggled at?

Now, my class will be doing our annual "Three Bears' Breakfast" to culminate our fairy tale genre study next month... BUT... that's more of an event than a party and I'll just be glad to be back inside of my own little teaching bubble minus the crazy amount of candy and cake balls!

I'm hoping everyone had a sane delightful day today! We're expecting a visitor tomorrow who is coming to check out how the Daily Five looks in my classroom. I love having people in to watch it... BUT... am hoping my kiddos come back in tomorrow as their normal selves. We had a full moon that was waaaay too full and lasted waaaay too long last week and then all of the excitement today... well, I'm just hoping for the best!

Happy Valentine's Day, teacher friends!

  5. Oh girl. I had those extended-full-moon-juiced-up-on-sugar kiddos after school for an extra hour and a half.

Whose bright idea was it to have drama club today??

I hope your observation goes well tomorrow!

  7. Oh man! So jealous you are done with parties! We still have an Easter party. Yes, that's right, I said Easter. Although I teach at a public school, we are in a small town and we still do Easter parties! Right down to hiding and hunting for eggs! It really is neat for the kids and when my own children are old enough I am sure I will love it. Just not a huge fan as a teacher having yet another party to do.
    I enjoy your blog!

  9. I forgot about the full moon last week, that may explain the week of non stop talking. Good luck tomorrow, I figure they'll be tired tomorrow from the sugar high. Jill

  11. I am glad you made it through. I had a healthy valentine's day where I told the parents only fruit, water, and one unfrosted sugar cookie. No one complained and the kids were so good. I highly recommend it!

  14. Where can I get some of the task cards that you are talking about? My kids really need practice with inferring and listening skills. Also, do you offer choice to your kids during Daily 5. My GR is pretty noisy and makes me a little crazy!

  15. Soupy Teach- if you Google task cards, I'm sure you'll find a ton of free ones! Are you on Proteacher? One of the members on PT makes and gives aways free ones all the time!
