S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G

Since we're all thinking about changes and such for the next school year, I'm linking up an old post for TBA's blog hop!  This is my most popular freebie on my blog!

Follow for Freebies

For the past five years, I have done "Speller's Choice" for homework in my classroom. The kids get to "choose" how to practice their spelling words within a set of choices I have set up for them.

This has worked out really well. However, next year I will be looping with half of my class and I wanted to do something a little different. So, instead of keeping the same number of choices for the year, each month students will get a new set of choices.

I have attached them below and added a fillable area for you (if you want to use it!) to put in your own e-mail address on a few of the sheets where e-mailing the words is a choice- you'll just have to download (rather than just view) to edit on those pages.

If you download and enjoy, please let me know with a comment! :)

  13. I'm so glad you all can use this! :) It hadn't actually occurred to me how repetitive my other "Speller's Choice" was and when I sent home my parent survey at the end of the year, one parent commented that her daughter had been getting bored with the choices and that was a light bulb moment for me! I think having a few "always" choice will be great for the kids, but giving some new ones each month will keep them excited about the practice!

  24. Love these! Thank you for all of your hard work and willingness to share. I'm starting my second year of teaching, and have LOVED reading all about your classroom! A question about homework, do you send home a weekly homework sheet that details all of the week's assignments? How do you keep track of who has/hasn't turned all of his/her assignments in? Thanks again! Meg

  27. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful ideas! I had never heard of Spelling City, but I went over and signed right up- can't wait to have my kiddos using it. Spelling is something that needs a little more "fun" and not so much "drudge"!

  30. Jamie401- I am sorry... due to some sad misuse of my items that has happened in the past, I don't send them out in WORD. :( But, you can go to my "Contact Me" page at the top of my blog to find my e-mail. If you e-mail me, I will send you the direct PDF file so no Google Docs involved! :)
