Emily sent me some AMAZING grammar posters and high frequency word magnets. Both of them are fully compatible and connected to the Common Core- you can check out the connections on THIS PAGE of their website.
Anywho... I LOVE the grammar posters so much. They are straight forward, not overly loaded with graphics, and just have such a clean, understandable look and feel to them. I can't WAIT to display them on my grammar door and my focus wall. Here's a peek at how they'll appear there. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE how simple, yet gorgeous these posters are!
Emily also included these magnetic high-frequency words and a cookie sheet for kids to use them on. I LOVE how the parts of speech are color coded and my mind is spinning with how I will be able to use these for word work activities and put them up on my focus wall when we are covering each part of speech!
You actually have a chance to win your own set of the high-frequency word magnets! You can enter using Rafflecopter below- you just need to be sure you're following my blog and that you LIKE Barker Creek on Facebook! You can earn an extra entry if you leave a comment letting me know what you'd use the magnets for. I'll announce the winner on Sunday!
These look like exciting new additions to your classroom.

I would use these to differentiate word work. The kids who need extra support could copy premade sentences with the magnet words. For a challenge, others can complete a "How many words are in your sentence?" task.

These would be a very helpful addition to my class. I have color coded my words according to their parts of speech using markers for years. My kiddos are second language learners, and colors really help them more readily identify the differenct parts of speech. This product would not only save time for me, but I could put it into a center for the children to work with.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI am trying to post again as it didn't seem to work the first time.
Thank you for the fun give-away.
I have a giant heater in my classroom. It blows air out the top and has about 5 feet of metal, that doesn't get hot, on the front.
I would use these magnets to play a partner game. The pieces would be in a basket. Each player would draw one and read the letter/sound or word. If they read it correctly it goes in their keep pile. If they get an animal, they can snitch from the partner's keep pile. When the pieces are gone, whoever has the most pieces wins.
This would so help in supply a new kindergarten room for me! I would really like to win this! Thanks for the generous offer....
ReplyDeleteAs a head teacher it would be great to start the year with these lovely magnets and present them to my team of enthusiastic teachers !
