After a LOOOOOOOONG Christmas break {life is upside down, remember?}, I was so looking forward to getting back to the classroom today. Doing something normal. Doing something I love to do. Taking my mind off of stuff. And then the snowfall to end all snowfalls happened yesterday and school was cancelled today.
So, I began looking forward to tomorrow. You know, when I could get back to do something normal that I love that will take my mind off of stuff? And then the cold to end all cold began to happen and I have ALREADY gotten the call that school is closed tomorrow too!
NO! NO! NO!
Usually I'm "boom boom"ing for snow. Wearing my PJs inside out. Flushing ice down the toilet. Potato by the alarm clock. Spoon on the nightstand... tricks for a snow day, I've got 'em! But I want to go to school!!!!!!!!
I am so so so hoping that the roads are clear tomorrow and I can just go in to my classroom. Right now the sheriff has our county under house arrest. No one is to be on the roads unless it is an emergency. For realz.
So the only positive is that I did do a massive product update this morning. In a few short weeks it will be the most beloved holiday celebrated in schools across America... you got it... Groundhog Day! And what a better way to celebrate than with this fun pack with ABC order, compound words, writing, snack making, graphing predictions, and a flippy book!

If you want a chance to win a pack, just drop me a line. I would love to read your comments on this snowy, ridiculously cold day which is keeping me cooped up at home instead of at school!
I'll choose a winner (or two) tomorrow and send you the pack!

I was so ready for the snow day today!!!! However, I was not ready for the cold temperatures!!! Your groundhog bundle looks awesome. I think my thirdies will love it!
ReplyDeleteI think you are on the East side of the state if I recall correctly. I am on the West side and my district doesn't close very often. They closed on 12/20 due to 2 inches of ice on everything. No school today due to the windchills and already off for tomorrow too! (BEFORE everyone else--never happens!) It's one for the record books I think. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteOh no! I'm so sorry you can't go to school! To be honest, I've always wondered what that was like - both as a student and a teacher. I have lived in California my whole life and have never had anything like a snow day.
ReplyDeleteMy school never closes and we are off today and tomorrow! Crazy! But it is like -17 degrees out, so I guess they had to!

It is bitterly cold and snowy here in Illinois, too. No school today or tomorrow, so we are also extending our winter break. I have spent time shopping/celebrating Snowpocalypse with some Indiana bloggers. And...I bought your water cycle flippy book since I could combine it with those $1 deals to more than meet the $3 TPT requirement. Yeah - TPT birthday gift certificate! Now I need to do some real work that I have been avoiding. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteWe are off today and tomorrow too but they are going to let us go into our classrooms from 11-4 tomorrow. We missed our work day today and I have a bunch to do so I will be going in. I hope you can get in tomorrow and get your mind off of things. I hope life calms down for you soon!
ReplyDeleteWe were at school-indoor recess and all. But it was nice to see the kids again.
ReplyDeleteI am also off due to the weather. We returned to school last Thursday from Christmas break and was out Friday due to snow. We were out today due to ice/snow/cold. Just got the one call No School tomorrow due to the weather! Normally I would want to be in the classroom with my students; however, I can't seem to fully recover from sickness during Christmas, so I'm thankful for the extra days we have off. If things "warm" up some we may make it back to school on Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteWe are home today too! I am a 2nd grade teacher in Minnesota and all of our schools were closed in the state. Quite a few have closed for tomorrow already but not mine...yet! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win your Groundhog's Day product! I don't have a product that I love for Groundhog's Day and I was actually hoping to make one but I haven't started yet so that probably won't be happening! :) Plus, your stuff is always so adorable, I would LOVE this!

ReplyDeleteI had professional development today!! Students return to school tomorrow. Yay!! I am so ready to get back to teaching!! I live in Texas and it's cold outside, but not snowing!! Thanks God, because I really cannot be at home any longer.
ReplyDeleteThis pack looks so cute!!! My third graders would love it for sure! I am off too due to the cold temperature. Here in Ohio where I live it is -5 outside! I am definitely enjoying my extended break! Stay warm! knstankovich@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my first day back today...but wouldn't cry if they told me I could sleep in tomorrow. There isn't a chance of that since I live in South Florida! Stay Warm...and SAFE!
ReplyDeleteWe homeschool so we didn't get the day off. As long as the kids don't know the school district was off, we are all set. :)
ReplyDeleteBack to school today, We haven't had a snow day in probably 20 years!!!
ReplyDeletemeunier27@yahoo.com
Back to school for us today in VA, but tomorrow has already been called off because of the cold temperatures (no snow) expected tomorrow. Brrrrr! I sure hope that groundhog does NOT see his shadow. :)

Apparently in Montana, we are too tough for snow days- or cold days! But it's been nasty cold here- which means indoor recess:( Looking forward to warmer temps as the week goes on!

A few years ago, we had a snow day in Las Vegas- the first ever in my life! Sadly enough, the snow was melted partway through the day and I was on track break so I didn't even get to enjoy a day off when I was supposed to be working! shanolsen@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI love Groundhog Day! I happen to love a snow day., too..guess I am an equal opportunity holiday celebrater!

I would love to win your Groundhog Day pack. I especially like the book you include! Groundhog Day is one of my favorite days to celebrate with the children :) We are off today for the cold and missed a day last week for snow. I really need to see my kids. Wishing for Spring - come on Groundhog - no shadow this year. PLEASE!

We were off yesterday and today. Still supposed to be a wind chill warning tomorrow morning. Wonder of the buses will go???? I guess we shall see. Report cards are supposed to be turned in and ready to go tomorrow. ARGH!!!! I would love to have this activity. Your work is so much fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI teach in Michigan also! It's been almost 3 weeks since we've had school! Did you have the ice day before break on Dec. 20, too? I love your Groundhog Day activity and know my third graders would love it, too. I posted Groundhog Day Fact and Opinion Task Cards a few days ago. I can't wait to try out some new things when we get back to the routine!

We have 12+ inches of snow on the ground and -50F with the windchill. There are no words to describe how cold it is! I'm staying inside and blog-stalking! :) I sure hope Mr. Groundhog predicts an early spring!

No snow here in Texas right now, but it is cold (for us, anyway)! But we did miss a whole week of school in early December for ice! After a week off at Thanksgiving, and then a week off for ice, and then 2 weeks off for Christmas...my scale was ready for me to go back today!! Love reading your blog and using all of your cute ideas! Happy Snow Day!

Hi Christina,
ReplyDeleteThe weather here in Barcelona, Spain is sunny with blue skies and around 65ºF during the day, but I grew up in Buffalo, NY, so I have great memories of sledding down from the roof of my parents' house during the Blizzard of 1977. From what I've seen on the online news, it's too cold to go outside in the midwest and northeast.
I've been a fan of your blog for about a year and a half now. I teach third grade at an international school in Barcelona. We don't celebrate Groundhog's Day here, so please give the unit to someone else. Just wanted to send greetings and let you know that your blog is read across the Atlantic and around the world! =)
Meg
no chance of a snow day for me - today was the first day back for our kiddos. it's been a little chilly by our standards, but i guess most of the US would love to have our low of 65 degrees!! lorinademello@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteNo chance of snow days for me - we do have hurricane days though! We have been having fun pretending that it is cold and trying on a pair of mittens that a northern friend sent to me. They were really great graphing fun - 1 pair of mittens on the graph is really 2 mittens - unique fun for us southern Floridians! Groundhog day is one of my favorite holidays! Can't wait to dig into this unit....I'm sure glad you had a snow day to work on this pack!
