Classroom Library Linky Party

The Sweet Life of 3rd Grade is having a classroom library linky party! I love looking at how other teachers organize their classrooms, so I knew this was my cup of tea! You should click her button above to head on over and sign-up too! Also, don't forget about my "My Teacher Always Says..." linky party going on below!

My library consists of 35 numbered baskets, each one with books on a similar theme, topic, genre, or by the same author. Each book has the same number on it so when the "librarians" go to put them away each week, they know exactly where they go!

Here's a picture of my main 2 bookshelves:

And here's the rest of my library! You can see some of my classroom games in this pic too.

Here's a close-up of my library labels, which you can download for free on my website!

I don't know where I got it from, but I always seem to arrange my library around my big meeting area... kind of like a big book hug holding us in on the rug! :)

On a side-note, I've had a very lazy day today... full of web browsing and blogging. To redeem myself, I will say that I vacuumed my house and mopped my kitchen floor. BUT... once when I got on Blogger today it was all different and now it's back to normal... hmmmm...

  1. I LOVE your blog and website! I am a second grade teacher ( last year was my first year teaching ever! ) so i ALWAYS used your ideas!! I have a question about your library! Where did you get those baskets?!?!?!? I need them for my library! Also how do you get the HORSE binders? do the kids bring them in? AND do you have any pictures of your HORSE binders? I am very interested in using them next year because my kids were ALWAYS losing stuff!! So I am trying to find ideas of how to eliminate that! Thank you so much for all your amazing ideas and everything you do! I can't tell you how wonderful it is for new teachers to find good ideas like yours. Thank you!!!!

  2. Thanks, Alyssa! I got the baskets at Wal-Mart and they were about $2.50 each, but SOOOO sturdy. This is the 4th year I've used them and they are great!

For my HORSE, I just buy the folders because I want them to all be the same. I have pictures on my website: http://www.bainbridgeclass.com/horse.htm

    Hope that helps!
