Party Time... Christmas Game FREEBIE!

First- I have to thank you all for your awesome support during the big Teachers pay Teachers sale these past two days.  Even if you didn't buy a thing from me (shame on you!... just kidding!), thanks for spreading the word, blogging about the sale yourself, and reading my blog posts about it.

My best sellers were Christmas Around the World Powerpoints and the PPT/Flippy Book bundle, my Partner Reading Party, Graphic Organizers for Big Kids, and Comprehension Flippy Books!  All that stuff is still on sale for 20% off until the end of the night.

TpT has been a huge blessing in my life this year as hubby and I are working to eliminate debt so we can start the process of our goal to adopt a baby next year (hopefully next year)!

Anywho, I just wanted to thank you for your support by sharing with you a free Christmas party game.  You can download it for free at my TpT store by clicking the picture below.  Enjoy and thanks for all you do to make this little blog special!  If you like it, I'd love to know about it!  Spread some love through comments, pins, and feedback!

Naked Santa Winner and MORE Naked Santa!

I just did the super-official-ask-the-hubby-to-choose-a-number-thing and he chose 45... so the winner of my "Suit up, Santa" contractions pack is Ms. La Croix!

I'm having WAY too much fun with this graphics set and have made two more packs- one for possessive nouns:
Find it on TpT (where you can still get it for 30% off until midnight tonight!!!)

The possessive noun pack connects with 3rd grade Common Core ELA Standard L.3.2- form and use possessive nouns.

Today I made one for arrays after I heard my kiddos will be starting multiplication soon I thought this would be a good review for us to do the week before Christmas.  This one connects with 2nd grade Common Core Math Standard 2.OA.4 and 3rd grade 3.OA.3.

So, here it is!
TpT- 30% off until midnight!

I know I should move on and do something else, but I'm feeling very 2nd grade about *almost* naked Santa!  I know my students are going to die laughing... and bet my 2nds would have loved it even more!

In case you didn't hear... because you don't live on your computer like I do... the TpT sale ends TONIGHT at midnight!  Most sellers have 20% off their shops and TpT is giving another 10% if you use the code CMT12 at checkout... and, if you leave your feedback and gain credits, you can get even MORE money off your purchase!  I got $10 off yesterday just in my credits!

My shop will remain at 20% off tomorrow yet for any last minute shoppers... but the extra 10% code ends tonight at midnight!

Naked Santa?! The Dreaded ERROR... and a MATH freebie!

That's right.  Naked.

As a former 2nd grade teacher, I know that is SURE to get your kids' attention!

I just added "Suit up, Santa" to my shops last night and will be using it as a review for my 3rd graders in December but it is specifically designed for 2nd grade language standard L.2.2c Use an apostrophe to form contractions and frequently occurring possessives.

You can win a copy!  All you have to do is leave your e-mail if you'd like one!  I'll choose a random winner tomorrow with my super official and technical system which I like to call "Hey Hubby!  Choose a number!".

If you just can't wait, it's on sale at TpT and TN.

The DREADED ERROR...

If you downloaded my Christmas Around the World flippy books, please log back in to your dashboard at TpT or TN and redownload it.  The BRAZIL flippy book had an error.  It is fixed now, thanks to the world's greatest husband... sorry!!!!!

Now for a super cool math freebie!

On Thanksgiving, my mom brought over holiday crackers.

You know- this kind of a thing...

Pull it and *pop* out flies goodies!

We got the typical jokes and paper headbands... my dad got an "awesome" ring toss game... but my hubby truly hit the jackpot... at least in the eyes of this gal who is always finding ways to "do school".

He got some cards that, with a little bit of mental math, can help you "read someone's mind".

And I KNEW my 3rd graders would go NUTS for this!

So... here they are.  And here's how it works...

Pick any number.

Go ahead.

Write it down.

Now, find all of the cards that have your number on them (including the card you picked the number from) and add up the first number on the cards that DO have your number.

Was the answer you got from the addition your mystery number?

AWESOME!

Love that mental math!

Click the picture to download the file!

I think this is great mental math that kids will want to do over and over because it's just too dang cool!

I'm off to splurge at TpT!  Happy shopping (and SAVINGS) to you too!

Check out last week's post to see my favorite items and a linky you can get shopping ideas at too!

Concrete and Abstract Nouns and a LINKY Party!

Shhh... don't tell anyone!  This is my 2nd post today... but I wanted to jump on this linky party... Yikes!

What a HARD concept!  I've been slowly slipping this into general conversation about nouns in my classroom and am finally ready to teach about it... I just made a new product to help my students practice this hard skill.

The new pack has over 30 pages with three different activities- an individual sorting activity, a SCOOT or read the room or hallway scavenger hunt activity, and a small group game- all designed to help students become familiar with concrete and abstract nouns!

You can check it out here... where you can get it for less than $3.00 after the sale at my shop and TpT's extra % off.  The TpT sale isn't until tomorrow, but I have started mine a day early!!!

Find it on TpT or Teacher's Notebook

Last today... who doesn't love a good linky party?!  And with all the GREAT sales going on at TpT today, I'm linking up with Shuna at Pocket Full of Kinders to show you some of the items on my TpT wishlist!

GRAPHICS is the name of the game with my right now and I've just discovered Pink Cat Studio and am in LOVE!

I've got several of her items on my wishlist and, soon, in my possession!

Christmas and Winter Quilt Squares

and

Phonics Graphics

I also can't wait to buy this...

Zombie Pet persuasive writing pack!  I know my kiddos will love it!

What are you buying?  You should link up and share what's in your cart!  Also, don't forget to leave feedback on items to earn credits towards FREE items!!!!

PS- Happy 35th Anniversary tomorrow to my parents!  I love you both!

Blank Comic Freebie & Sales Everywhere!

Earlier this week I made and posted a new product and I want to share four pages of it with you!

I made a huge pack of blank comics that you can use to assess and assign on whatever you want... students just have to figure out a way to cater the dialog to meet your expectations!

We did one last week with a turkey and students had to include 1 possessive noun.  They got to add their own other character (which they loved) and then design the backgrounds and add their own dialog... which could be anything as long as it had a possessive noun!

I got some super thoughtful and clever things... and I got to see who understood possessive nouns and who didn't!

So, just click the picture below to head over and get your "Winter Sports" blank comics!  I'd love to hear your ideas on how you could use them... the possibilities are really endless!

Grab it on TpT

The whole pack is on sale for $1 off at my TpT store and will them be 20% off PLUS an additional 10% off during the TpT Cyber Monday plus Tuesday sale starting tomorrow!!!!!

There are tons of sales in the works for this weekend (what's left of it anyway!) and then tomorrow & Tuesday.  Right now, everything in my TN shop is 20% off plus 10% more that TN is offering... then TpT tomorrow and Tuesday!  I'm off to browse right now and start adding stuff to my cart!

Check back tomorrow or Tuesday... we did those "crackers" at my house on Thanksgiving- you know the toilet paper roll looking things with stuff inside... and my husband's had this really neat math thing inside that I'm going to make bigger and share.  It's super cool!

Sale! Sale! Sale!

Are you all recuperating from CRAZY shopping on Friday!

I'm writing this post in advance because hubby and I are going to Chicago on Saturday which now is today but since I'm writing this actually on Wednesday, I have a few days to wait!

Anywho, for my b-day back in October my hubs got me tickets to see SISTER ACT the musical in Chicago!  You know I like musicals just a smidge and I have a huge soft spot for Sister Act the movie... so I'm soooooooo geeked!

We even talked about a possible trip to Medeval Times for dinner afterwards... but as of Wednesday when I wrote this post... we hadn't bought tickets yet.  We'll see what happens!

I'm just popping in to let you know that saving started early at Teacher's Notebook!  Everything at my shop is 20% off until Monday and they are offering an additional 10% at checkout!

And TpT's huge sale starts on Monday!

Did you see my post about it?  There's a a link to a linky in the post so you can check out what everyone's selling!

Click the picture below to head to that post to see what I'm proud of and how you can get to Michelle's blog to check out everyone else!

Ok!  I'm probably sitting at my show while you read this!  Hope your day is fab!

It's a Cyber Monday Sale... Winners... and Something NEW!

I'm jumping on board the Cyber Monday bandwagon over at TpT to offer 20% off of everything in my shop!

And then you can get an ADDITIONAL 10% off by entering the code CMT12 when you checkout!

So- that was item 1 on the agenda.

Item 2...

WINNERS!

Over the weekend, I showed you the Christmas Around the World flippy books I made to go along with my Powerpoints...

And said that, if you wanted a set, you could leave your e-mail and I'd pick 2 to win!

I just asked the hubs to shout out 2 numbers between 1 and 77 (very official, I know!) and he chose 62 and 32.

So the winners are...

comment #62- KA and #32- Deb.  I'll be e-mailing you shortly!

LAST...

Something new!

Last week my students wrote a comic involving a turkey and a possessive noun.  This was any possessive noun they would like... they just had to find a way to work their possessive noun into their comic.  They got to create their own 2nd character and add that to the comic too.

They were SO good!  And they had SO much fun!

So, I created a HUGE set with similar pages so we can do this again!
 Find it on TpT

The possibilities for this pack are endless... in math, they can write a comic to explain the answer to a problem or a different way of solving... in language arts, they can write a comic that contains a certain number of nouns or adjectives or verbs or contractions... they can explain new vocab or practice adding "voice" to their writing... explain the scientific method or a historical event...  Since I'm an ELA teacher only, my brain is swimming with possibilities for ELA and I can't wait to use the comics more in my classroom!

I've just added them to TpT.  The file is actually a zipped file with 2 files inside- one of them is called "Say Anything" and those pages have one character and then students can add another character and their own dialog.  The other file is called "Say Anything for Two" and this one provides two characters so students just add the dialog!

Sounds confusing!

Check out the preview file on TpT for clarification!  The best part is that I'll be leaving it up for $1 off through the end of the TpT sale... so during the sale you can get it for $5 PLUS the discount!

Photobucket
Michelle... the amazing 3am Teacher is hosting a linky party so you can check out everyone's sales!  I hope you'll go link up!

The last part of this blog post is just for me to show off some of my products on TpT for the sale... incase you're in the spending mood!  :)

My current best seller is a set of reading comprehension flippy books...
 Find it on TpT

One of my favorite products that I have is my partner reading pack...  It's so fun!  :)  Check out Tracy's review of it if you need convincing!
 Find it on TpT

Gotta share this one!  I know Open House night is over for the year... but... this pack is AWESOME for getting organized for Open House!  It's fully customizable in PPT and... I just have to say that I love it!
Find it on TpT

The last item I have to brag about is my Reading Comprehension Graphic Organizers for Big Kids.  This pack hits CCSS for 3rd-5th grade.  I loved making it and use it often during my ELA time!
Find it on TpT

Ok.  That's it!  Enjoy your turkey day tomorrow!  My 'rents are coming for dinner and then my sis and bro-in-law for desserts... then I'm hitting the stores EARLY and staying out even earlier.  I can't wait!

Hope your holiday is a blessed one!

And NO I Did Not Bribe Her to Write This...!

It's been the longest two day week of my life!  I so needed this today after a student got sick in class yesterday and irresponsibility flitting through the 3rd grade air today...

Check out what this sweetie wrote on her weekly assessment- at the bottom I usually give them a task to write about or a question to answer.  Today I said they could tell me whatever they wanted about Thanksgiving...

My day was officially MADE!  :)

Haha- now that I've posted this picture, I realize I didn't correct her grammar portion correctly!  Maybe I should let it slide...  Haha!

{And no, I did not bribe her to write that!}

Holiday Recipe Linky... The BEST Green Bean Casserole!

Yay!  I'm so excited that it's almost Thanksgiving!  I LOVE watching the Macy's Parade in the morning and having my parents over for dinner in the afternoon... and then, of course, braving the crowds to catch the deals with my BFF the next morning.  {Last year, death was wished upon me by a crazy shopper on Black Friday!!!}

Anywho, I'm linking up with First Grade & Fabulous to share one of my favorite holiday recipes.

Now, green bean casserole is a staple at every holiday gathering but I promise you, you have never tasted a green bean casserole as tasty as the one I am about to tell you about!

I don't have a picture to share but I want you to put your best visualization skills to the test and picture a casserole dish bubbling at the edges with creamy mushroom soup while little bits of tender green beans poke through a layer of melted cheddar cheese on top... Oh My G!

This is my mom's recipe for green bean casserole and, though the one topped with fried onions is OK, this one is the BEST.  No holiday meal is a true holiday meal for me without it.  I hope you might want to try it out this year... I promise you'll love it!

Mrs. Bainbridge's Mom's Green Bean Casserole

*8 oz. sour cream
*1 can cream of mushroom soup
*2 cans green beans, drained well
*cheddar cheese

This is the most important part- the night before, mix the sour cream, soup, and green beans.  Cover with shredded cheddar cheese and put in the fridge.  You must do it the night before so the liquids have a chance to mesh into this amazing concoction of deliciousness!

The next day, bake at 350 until the cheese is melted and the whole thing is bubbly.

It is SO GOOD!

It serves 6-8 people... but we usually eat almost all of it between four of us and have a spoonful or two left over.  It's so stinkin' good!

If you do try it, let me know!!!!  I'll try and snap a pic this Thursday and add it to the ol' blog... then maybe that will entice you to try it for Christmas!

Winners, Winners, Chicken Dinners...?!

Ok- you got me.  No chicken dinners are actually involved.

But... the winners of my 2600 follower "I'm thankful for YOU" giveaway are...

Karyn- I'll be e-mailing you an Amazon card and Jen... you can pick out $20 of stuff from my TpT store!

Thanks to everyone who entered... and thanks for making the bloggy world a great place to be!

Stay tuned... I'm working on a fun product today (if my nose ever stops running and my eyes stop watering!) that I'll be giving away soon.  I've had a cold for over a month and it keeps starting back up again every time I think it's over!  Must be all those new germs I'm adjusting to at my new school!  Hahaha!

Aww... Nuts! {Dolch Sight Word Linky Party}

I'm linking up with Katie from Teacher to the Core to chat about sight words!

As a 3rd grade ELA teacher, I'm not having to work with sight words a whole lot, but we are playing the game "Aww... Nuts!" with 3rd grade sight words in our word work station.

I found these adorable peanut containers at Wal-Mart this summer:

Inside the containers are sets of 3rd grade Dolch word cards that look like this... with all of the 3rd grade Dolch words...
But some say this...

My students pull out cards, read the sight word, and continue... if they pull an "Aww... NUTS!" they must return all sight word cards to the container and start over!

This can easily be a partner or small group game where an "Aww... NUTS!" card means students can steal others' cards or still return cards to the container.

It's a fun way to get that needed repetition!

I also have these cards from Lakeshore Learning, which I believe aren't available anymore...

but if you ever find them, you should *SO* get them.  I have about 8 3rd graders working on sight words from these sets.  They practice them every day during read to self time.  I'm hoping they'll be ready to move on to 3rd grade words soon!

I have the "Aww... NUTS!" game available for all sight words pre-primer through third grade.  You can check them out by clicking each picture below!

So, what are your favorite sight word activities?  Head over to Teacher to the Core to link up!

Also... there's still time to enter my giveaway for either $20.00 worth of my TpT products {Aww... NUTS! anyone?!} or a $15.00 Amazon gift card!
