Happy Wednesday!
I went in to school today to work on organizing (who knew I had so much glitter?!) and to do a few bulletin boards. As soon as I get my official class list, I will finish my "Welcome" board in the hallway... and I'm super excited to show you the picture of it!
This is one that I finished today- my board to display the members of my "100 Club". I ordered the banner from Vista Print and the little white basket at the bottom of the banner has some star sticky notes and a marker, so when a kid completed a level, I will add their name to a sticky note and put it in the appropriate section on the banner.
If you aren't familiar with my club, it is an optional "extra" for my kiddos in which they can earn a place in the club by reading extra books outside of school time.
My students last year were really psyched about the club... I think anytime you call something a "club" they get pumped about it! I had two students to read over 200 books and one who completed the 100 Club 4 times!
This was also a good way for them to keep track of books they read at home and needed to take an AR test on in class.
You can check out my 100 Club pack on TpT by clicking the picture below!
OK! That's it for today!

I love this banner from VistaPrint. I made mine a Bling Club poster (to put the clothespins that are filled with "bling" on). I didn't think the poster would be so big but I love it and I think I'll get another:)
ReplyDeleteI think this is a brilliant idea (as so many of yours are) I am wondering what size banner you used from Vista Print- it looks larger that the one I just got, but I'm not sure it's the large size. Thanks for always sharing so much, it is greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteMelissa- It's whatever the *free* banner is! :)

What a great idea! I love all ideas that motivate students to read. Your poster came out great BTW.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I'm a bit concerned about students reading 100 books. In your experience ... can they do it? I know that sounds dumb .... but I worry a bit. also, I teach in a high poverty area and there is little parent help/encouragement at home. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteJami~ I'm at a school that is 81% free-and-reduced lunch and can tell you the kids loved it! :) My kids are assigned 15-minutes of reading a night so if they would record their book(s) on this sheet, they should have no problem making the club. If you figure we have school for about 170 days, all they have to do is read one book a night. I would say half of my class read at least 50 books and a good 1/3 or more read 100 or more. You never know unless you try! :)
ReplyDeleteExactly! Thanks for the encouragement, I'm going to give it a try!!! I made some cute signs today to go with it!
ReplyDeleteLove this! What font do you use on your parent letter you send home. I really like it!
ReplyDeleteHi Brandi! The font is called Girls 'n' Boys.

Another quick question! How do you keep track of your 100 club? Do the kids just show you their sheet and you take their word for it? I'm a trusting person ..... but somehow I always get taken advantage of haha!
