My Welcome Bulletin Board Linky Party and Teacher Talk Tuesday

This is a "dual purpose" post and I hope that doesn't annoy too many people! :)

I got my "Welcome" bulletin board finished today and wanted to share. I'm pretty excited about how it turned out! I'd like to welcome you to join my linky party to show off YOUR welcome BB too!

Now for Teacher Talk Tuesday... this is part of Blog Hoppin's Teacher Week linky party! Today's topic is advice for new teachers...

1.) You can't control everything and sometimes things don't go as planned and it's OK! Not really advice, but something to keep in mind. It took my classroom being destroyed by a fire 2 weeks before my 3rd year started for me to REALLY get that. It was OK! I still taught and my kids still learned and I could control nothing! :)

2.) You will never be caught up. But please make time for yourself... even if it means that cool bulletin board you wanted to do has to wait.

3.) Everyone says this and please know that it really is true... be courteous and respectful to your school secretary and custodians! They both do so much for you and are very willing to help if you have developed a good relationship with them.

  3. You could post all day long Christina and it wouldn't annoy me! I'm on day #2 and super frustrated. Please tell me this is normal? They are talking non stop and not listening and I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels. sigh!

Woops .... sorry to go off topic. LOVE YOUR BULLETIN BOARD!

  4. Thanks you all! :)

Jami- just keep stopping when they get off task... they'll get the hang of it. My kids have started fine the past two years, so I don't have any real good troubleshooting experience to share. But, stick with it and practice, practice, practice the expectations. Be sure you're sharing their time with them so they have something to work for! :)

Do you have the "stamina graphs"...? If not, e-mail me and I'll send them your way!

  5. I love your comment about being respectful to the secretarys and custodians. Being a teacher's child, I watched TONS of teachers abuse this little old man who was a custodian at my school. It broke my heart! I vowed to never be like that a long time ago. Last week one of the custodians brought my dog two bones she had bought her because she loved meeting her one day after school. I know she doesn't make much money, but it meant SO much to me. I know they care too!

  9. I love your welcome board. How did you make it? Did you pre-purchase the wanted signs or make them on your computer?

  10. Hi Jess! I printed the title words at home, laminated, and cut at school. The "WANTED" is made from barbed wire that I bought from Oriental Trading and the small wanted posters are from my local teacher's store!

    1. I made it in Publisher on the computer. You just design it, print, and assemble!
